Global Parts Sourcing
How we find the unfindable
Finding a genuine fuel rail or a specific plastic trim piece for a 1992 Italian V12 often stops a restoration in its tracks. Most local shops give up when the main dealer says the part is NLA (No Longer Available). We don't. Our workshop in Bristol keeps a database of 43 vetted suppliers across three continents. These aren't just generic warehouses; they are retired mechanics, private collectors, and small shops in places like Modena and Shizuoka who still have parts on the shelf from 1995. We don't guess if a part will fit; we check it against the factory blueprints we keep on file.
Verification of serial numbers
We verify every single component against the original factory production records before we even pay for it. If a part arrives from Japan and the serial number doesn't match the specific production run for your chassis, it goes back. We saw this last April when a client needed a specific ECU for a 1989 build. Three different suppliers sent the "right" part, but only the fourth one matched the internal board revision required. We handle that headache so you don't end up with a garage full of expensive parts that won't work with your car's wiring loom.
Hunting for New Old Stock (NOS)
The hunt often goes beyond active shops. We spend about 14 hours a week digging through private collections to find New Old Stock. This means the part is 30 years old but has never been fitted to a car. It is still in the original waxed paper or factory box. In November 2024, we sourced a complete set of factory-correct gaskets from a closed dealership in rural France for a client's engine rebuild. It took 19 days to negotiate the sale, but it meant the engine stayed period-correct. We value these finds because they preserve the value of your car better than any modern replacement could.
Handling the customs headache
Importing parts from outside the UK is a paperwork nightmare these days. Customs forms, VAT, and duty codes can hold up a shipment for weeks if they aren't perfect. We manage the entire logistics chain from the moment the seller agrees to ship. Last quarter, we cleared 38 separate international shipments through UK customs without a single delay over three days. We pay the fees upfront and include them in one clear invoice, so you aren't getting surprise calls from shipping companies asking for another £340 in fees before they release your package.
Quality checks before delivery
Once a part reaches our Bristol square workshop, it undergoes a final inspection. We check for age-related degradation, even on unused parts. Rubber seals from 1991 can perish even if they've sat in a box for decades. If we find a flaw, we tell you immediately and discuss whether to refurbish it or keep looking. We currently have 4 active hunts for rare magnesium wheels that have been ongoing for 7 months. We won't stop until we find the right set that meets our workshop-grade standards. Honestly, it's about making sure your car is built to last another thirty years.
