Common questions at the bench

A few things owners usually ask us before they bring their 80s or 90s icon to our Bristol workshop for the first time.

Why do you only work on 80s and 90s models?

We focus exclusively on the years between 1980 and 1999. The electronics and fuel systems from this era are very specific. By staying specialized, we can keep the right workshop-grade tools and factory blueprints on hand for every car in the bay.

How do you source parts that are no longer made?

We use a global parts network of 43 suppliers across Japan, Italy, and the USA. Sometimes we find New Old Stock sitting in a private collection. Every part is verified against original serial numbers to ensure it is period-correct before we fit it.

Can I get a fixed quote for my restoration?

To be upfront, we don't offer 'all-in' fixed prices because the cost of rare parts changes weekly. We charge a flat labor rate of £85 per hour. We provide a written estimate for the workshop hours and bill for parts at the current market price with no hidden markups.

Do you handle international shipping and customs?

Yes. We handle the import logistics and heritage customs paperwork for you. On a recent project, we saved a client £3,800 on a single engine block shipment simply by using the correct classification codes. We bring the parts directly to our Bristol workshop.

What is the typical turnaround time for a rebuild?

A standard maintenance refresh takes about 11 business days. A full engine and gearbox overhaul usually takes 7-9 weeks. This includes a mandatory 4.57-hour bench test to check for leaks and heat issues. We don't rush projects because these engines are built to last.

Can I visit the workshop to see your work?

We are a private workshop, not a public showroom. This keeps our 8 specialists focused on the 14 active projects currently on the lifts. However, you can schedule a workshop visit to discuss your specific car and see our standards in person.
